What Profession Is This And Why Are
We Here Anyway?"
The emerging
technologies and the growth of information are creating incredible new
possibilities and opportunities to the field of librarianship.
From traditional libraries to a variety of dot.coms, the ability to
provide information wherever, whenever and however has become big business.
The popular focus on the information society has generated discussion in
our profession about who we are - are we information professionals or
librarians. In this session, Dr.
Althea Jenkins will provide an overview on issues related to questions about
what profession we are and what titles we wear.
