{"id":1196,"date":"2014-10-08T11:21:18","date_gmt":"2014-10-08T15:21:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/enyacrl.org\/site\/?p=1196"},"modified":"2014-10-08T11:21:18","modified_gmt":"2014-10-08T15:21:18","slug":"fall-brown-bag-lunch-series-2014-communicating-our-value-as-librarians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.enyacrl.org\/site\/fall-brown-bag-lunch-series-2014-communicating-our-value-as-librarians\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall Brown Bag Lunch Series 2014: Communicating Our Value as Librarians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since 2007, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enyacrl.org\/site\/brown-bag-lunch-series\">ENY\/ACRL Brown Bag Lunch Series<\/a> has provided a great opportunity for librarians within a region to get together informally for lunch, discussions, and networking.\u00a0 This year\u2019s theme is <strong>\u201cMore Than Just Book Buyers: Communicating Our Value as Librarians,\u201d<\/strong> with separate events focusing on related subtopics ranging from leveraging on-campus collaborations to connecting our libraries to the value of higher education in order to effectively communicate our institutional value.\u00a0 This year we are delighted to present four brown bags at a variety of institutions, offering our members from across our region multiple options to meet and exchange ideas with colleagues from their local areas.\u00a0 Many thanks to Clarkson University and SUNY Potsdam, Mount Saint Mary College, SUNY Geneseo, and Union College for generously volunteering to host this year\u2019s slate of events!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clarkson University and SUNY Potsdam (jointly-hosted event at Clarkson University)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Date\/Time:<\/strong> Monday, October 27, 2014, 11:00am-1:30pm<br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong> Clarkson University, Educational Resources Center (ERC), 1504 Presidents Conference Room<br \/>\n<strong>Hosts:<\/strong> Marianne Hebert (SUNY Potsdam) <a href=\"mailto:hebertm@potsdam.edu\">hebertm@potsdam.edu<\/a> and Michelle Young (Clarkson) <a href=\"mailto:myoung@clarkson.edu\">myoung@clarkson.edu<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Title:<\/strong> When Worlds Collide: Is Work\/Life Balance Just a Fantasy?<br \/>\n<strong>Description:<\/strong> Calling all librarians and library staff from all types of libraries! This discussion will focus on the methods we use to determine library value. Bonnie Swoger and Kim Hoffman from SUNY Geneseo will describe some methods underway to make connections between library services and student success.
